Letter from the President

Keith Jewell
President

For over 140 years, St. Mary's has cared for the sick and promoted health in Evansville and its surrounding communities by remaining true to our Mission of serving all persons, with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. As we look to the future, it is an exciting time for us to lay the foundation for providing another 140 years of expert care and dedication to the loving and healing ministry of Jesus.

When it comes to providing exceptional healthcare, St. Mary's is committed to providing patients with access to the best physicians, services, technology and staff. That commitment began in July 1872 when the Daughters of Charity arrived in Evansville and began preparing the first St. Mary's, an old Marine Hospital on the banks of the Ohio River, for service. Since then, St. Mary's has continually expanded our services and facilities to provide the Evansville region with outstanding clinical care and access to the latest technologies and treatments – all delivered with compassion, respect and joy.

Today, you and your family have access to the breadth and depth of services that St. Mary's Health has to offer. This includes our Magnet designated hospital which has also been ranked number four in the state by US News and World Report; treatment for heart attacks ranked in the nation's top ten percent for fastest care; Epworth Crossing – our brand new state-of-the art outpatient center; our Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center; the first Level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the Tri-State; our Rehabilitation Institute accredited by CARF (Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities); our LifeFlight air ambulance service which has been accredited by CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services) – the gold standard in air ambulance accreditation; and so much more.

All of this, everything we do, would not be possible without the support and hard work of our physicians, nurses and staff. Everyone here plays an important role in impacting your experience and the care we provide to you. Our achievements are a reflection of their expertise, dedication and commitment.

You are seldom more vulnerable than when you are sick. You trust us to do the right thing, to treat you with dignity, compassion and understanding, and to offer the same level of respect to your family. It's people caring for people. Everyone at St. Mary's accepts that charge. Our goal is to earn the respect and trust of every person that we touch throughout the community. It is our privilege to be your healthcare provider. We all stand ready to meet the healthcare needs of you and your family, and we look forward to being of service to you.

Sincerely,

Keith Jewell
President
