Your Appointment with our Maternal Fetal Medicine Staff
What to Expect During Your Appointment
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to complete any necessary paperwork.
All patients undergoing genetic amniocentesis or ultrasound screening for Down Syndrome are required to first undergo genetic counseling and an ultrasound, followed by a consultation with the physician. Depending on the ultrasound, several staff members may assist the physician.
- More time is needed with patients having twins or multiples.
- Depending on the patient's condition, vaginal ultrasound may also be indicated.
- You will receive pictures of your baby after completion of ultrasound.
You are encouraged to ask all questions during the appointment. If you have questions that were not answered after leaving the office, please feel free to call later to have these questions answered.
Since your visit is a consultation visit, you will need to follow up with your regular provider for the remainder of your pregnancy care. You may be scheduled for additional visits with us, depending on the findings at your appointment.
